2003: Theater Experimentation
For six consecutive years, and supported, among
others, by ARTEZ, the group of theater El Rayo Misterioso has been being in
charge to organize the International Theater Festival in Rosario, Argentina. A
festival denominated Experimenta Theater whose main objective is to
promote the encounter and the interchange of professional groups of theater of
different nations. Companies that develop in their work an innovating criterion,

One more sample of the Philosophy of the Company El
Rayo: the theater understood like a style of life, self managed and theater work
practiced as a laboratory, beyond the assembly of a spectacle. The very names of
the theater spaces - Antonin Artaud, Jerzy Grotowski and Julian Beck- give good
account of by where the shots go.

"Intense week in which spectacles,
workshops, conferences and round tables were carried out with the
objective to promote the interchange of professional groups of theater of
different nations that develop in their work an innovating criterion, search and
aesthetic exigency. Within the framework of this Festival, 9th RAT (Regional
Alternative Theatre) Meeting was developed , an important international network
of theater that presented activities coordinated by eleven artists of the United
States and Canada ."

seriously"
"It is for all those that do not
understand the theater like entertainment", it says on the festival Aldo
El-Jatib, its impeller. Experimenta is one of the ways that its Group found to
approach with others that are also committed in the construction of a theater of
similar profile, to share and to interchange experiences. Because of this,
selection that they make is very rigorous: "We look for groups that give
samples of a continuous work and which they are aesthetically coherent" it
emphasizes.

proposals to interrogate and to celebrate the life from the scene: Experimenta
6 presented the works "the Castle" and "Yuri Sam". These
works from Rumania and Spain hit with their images and the actoral work.

2003: “Experimenta arrives
with a high degree of maturity"
To those of us who journalistically already had
covered the traditional international festivals within this country, like the
Mercosur of Cordoba and the International of Buenos Aires, it surprises the
quality and solution to us of the proposals that appeared in Experimenta. We
have to mention the version of "the Castle" of "Teatrul Nottara"
of Bucharest. An overwhelming scenic proposal that begins from an excellent
theater adaptation in charge of director Tino Geirum in front of a team of
actors who beyond the language vindicated the use of a performance that connects
with all the audience. Another pearlite of the foreign ensembles that visited us
was the work Yuri Sam, in charge of the Spanish group Fábrica de Teatro
Imaginario. Completing this international combination,
Mexicans of the group Teatro Línea de Sombra,
presented in Gallery of Dyings one precise approach to the world of Beckett.

"Again, a positive balance"
Experimenta, a space for the encounter and the
reflection about the experimental tracks of the scenic arts that has found
its maturity. Of the present edition you can remark, mainly, the attempt of
opening proposed by the organizing group that, without breaking with the
original idea that Experimenta is an encounter and not a festival, opened the
game to performances programmed in theater hall by outside of the anticipated
ones in the multispace of El Rayo Misterioso. The international festival aimed
at the quality and not at the amount of works, which positions and confirms
again this encounter within the circuit of international festivals. Another
aspect to emphasize was the presentation of work in progress of the new work
of El Rayo. It's La Consagración de las
furias, spectacle that already preannounces, once again,
the aesthetic sense search with which it has worked from his formation, and that
breeds in the theater of the ritual, with a strong mark in the image..
